Breast Care Nurse of the Year

Denise was our runaway winner with nearly 30% of the vote.

Denise Carr upon hearing she’d won! - Just to say thank you so much for the award. I was really overwhelmed to have won.  When I spoke to you yesterday, I was working in clinic so didn’t take it all in.  I have come to work this morning and told my Hospital Matron and they were delighted for me.

Ladies testimonials –

I would like to vote for Denise Carr Breast Care Nurse who is a most wonderful caring nurse who definitely deserves to win this award - all her patients think very highly of her at all times

I would like to nominate Denise Carr from the Spire Wellesley hospital in Southend.

I met Denise nearly ten years ago when I was first diagnosed and immediately fell in love with her kindness warmth and understanding, she has been a constant support over the years and through a second episode has always treated me more as a friend than a patient, she is totally devoted to her work and is cherished by everybody who meets her. I cannot think that anybody could be more deserving of the title of breast care nurse of the year. Please give her every consideration, this would be just a little reward for her devotion and kindness.

I would like to nominate Denise Carr who works at the Spire Wellesley Hospital Southend as Breast Care Nurse of the Year.

When I was first diagnosed, Denise was always there for me and supported me through all the rough times.  I had chemotherapy followed by a mastectomy and finally radiotherapy.  Even when she was not on duty, Denise always popped into the hospital to check on my progress and to give me  reassurance that things were going well.  She even made sure I received my prosthesis fitting! She is constantly willing to learn and attends various seminars.  She has also completed several walks to help raise money for our local breast care charity.

It is now seven years since my first diagnosis but our friendship is stronger than ever.
